The Mets' Red Soxesque collapse continues. 3 games left & now they're tied with the Filthies. Super uber fricking duper craptastic. Can't even win with Peddddrrrrrrro.... I *weep* again.

But hey on the more downside the Fillies close the season with the Nationals, so you know they got that going for them while the Mets will probably get swept in their 3 games even if they end up playing the Hoboken Youth 11 for the Parapalegic. As in cripples which the Mets are looking like lately. I said "cripples." Eat me, political correctness. Especially if you're a politically correct cripple. Hey! Look at that! Something else...

Mets lost, 9-6 to Washington. Filliedelphia beat Hotlanta, 6-2.

Geeeeeez Louise, the Mets are choking. Why did the Mets sign the 78 Red Sox all of a sudden? Sheesh! Magic # is down to 9 but their NL East lead is down to 1.5 over the Filthies.

Mets blew a 3 run lead (twice actually) last night to lose yet again, this time to the Fish, 8-7 in 10.

Good thing football season is here! Ha!

Fillies Sweep Mets A-gain...

Flyers swept the mets yet again in a 3 game set. Luckily it's foozball season so it's kind of like "ho hum" for baseball now... except I'll say yet again- "I don't jnow why anyone else but the Red Sox & Yankees play baseball, it's obvious that they're the only 2 teams ESPN gives a shit about."

Or they (the Red Sux & the Stankees) are like Detroit & Colorado in the NHL, they seem like they only play each other.... Blaaaaaaaaaah blah blah.

Anywho the Mets' lead is down to 3.5 due to the sweepage by the Fillies. Magic # is now 11.

Mets Recap

Quick Mets recap of the last couple days. They've so far split the 1st 2 games of the series with Hotlanta, a 3-2 win & 13-5 loss, respectively.

Mets bats continue to come alive as David Wright & Moises Alou are both over .300 & Beltran has raised his average to .280 recently, although speedsters Jose Reyes & Luis Castillo have seen the averages fall some 20 pts. apiece in the last month. Have you swoon NOW Reyes & Castillo.

Hopefully all the bats will remain hot come playoff time which the Mets are hopefully setting up for nicely with Lastings Milledge & Shawn Green swapping starts in outfield to go with the hot bats of Beltram & Alou.

Delgado's been ok but would still like to see some more consistent power with him personally.

So far, it's Bravos-Mets 1-all in the bottom of the 4th tonight... and I just got a wicked twitch in my left eye that's driving me batty. But hey, at least my 4 day headache is finally gone...

Update: Woo! Mets come back to win tonight, to take a 9.5 game lead on the 3rd place Braves. I think that all but eliminates them from catching the Mets. Big series with the Fillies starting on friday. If the Filthies have any shot at catching Los Metropolitanos they'll have to sweep the Mets again, I think. Fingers crossed.

Pedro Martinez tossed 5 shutout innings this afternoon as the Mets beat the Astros 4-1. The Mets Magic # is now at 15.

Sundry Sport Tidbit Type Things

The Mets rested several players last night & got dropped 7-zip by the Reds. John Maine picked up the loss & drops to 14-9.

With the Braves & Phillies beating up on each other, the Mets lead is back to 5 games in the East & their magic number is 19. Fucking magic!

Arsenal has started brightly in their EPL campaign with 3 wins & a draw in their 1st 4 matches. The only points dropped so far was to Blackburn on Jens Lehmann's goalkeeping gaffe gifting Blackburn the tying goal.

The young Arsenal side so far are showing much more determination on the pitch in their initial games than they have in previous seasons especially against the like of physical sides such as Blackburn. They're also getting more goals from midfield which is definitely a good thing. Bodes well for them this season as they seek to better their 2 consecutive "disappointing" 4th place EPL finishes.

Roll The R, Pedrrrrrrrrrrrrro Martinez Returns For The Mets

Pedro Martinez returned to the Mets' rotation yesterday going 5 innings & allowing 3 runs, 2 earned on 5 hits. This can only be a good thing for the Mets. Pedro doesn't even have to be the Mets' Ace, but he if he can give them another consistent starter, with the Mets bats starting come alive lately, this could be the jolt the mets need for the playoff stretch & playoffs.

Mets have hung double digits in both Reds games so far winning 10-4, good buddy, yesterday & 11-7 tonight with Paul LoDuca bagging 7 RBIs. Yes RBIs with the 's.' RBI as plural sounds stupid to me, so instead of thinking of it in terms of "runs batted in" & ergo "RBI", I think of it as "RBI" is the word giving you the plural of RBIs. Eat it, if you don't like it.

Mets Sweeps Braves!

After the Mets were the sweepee,
they became the sweepers...

Woo! 1st they get a stellar performance from previously winless Mike Pelfrey & then yesterday Glavine outdueled former teammate & buddy John Smoltz for a 3-1 victory to cap off a 3-game sweep of the Braves by the Mets.

Great that the Mets bounced back in a dangerous series against the Braves after being swept in a 4-game set by the Fillies. That's the kind of bounceback determination they'll need for the postseason (fingers crossed).

Although it is a little disconcerting that Reyes' average is starting to drop. Since he doesn't walk all that much, that may be a danger sign the Mets need to remedy. Hopefully, Castillo & Wright behind him can keep getting on, b/c as one of the Braves announcers' astutely pointed out yesterday, during the playoffs you're going to run into teams that have good pitching that can silence power bats, so you may need to get things started by having speed & putting teams into situations that get the defense moving, etc.

Mets Beat Bravos, 7-1; John Curtis Defeats Mandeville, 20-3

John Maine went 7 strong innings only allowing a run & the Mets got keys hits on Carlos Delgado's 3-run dinger in the 4th & a bases clearing double by pinch-hitter Marlon Anderson in the 9th to seal the game with some insurance runs.

Phillies won again last night as well so the Mets' division lead is still at a slim 2 games with the entire month of September to battle it out with the Phillies. The Bravos are also lurking at 5.5 back so they can't be dismissed yet either.

Big day today, college foozball starts in earnest in about 50 minutes!

I only made it to about 2 minutes into the 2n quarter between Washington-Syracuse last night until I was too bored to watch anymore. Willingham may have a surprise or two in store for some Pac-10 opponents though this year.

I then ended up watching most of the remainder of John Curtis-Mandeville HS on CST. Curtis triumphed 20-3 after a slow start themselves. Curtis is Curtis- same as it ever was... same as it ever was... Fundamental football, nothing fancy, nothing flashy, bide your time until the other team either finally makes a mistake or the kids' fitness starts breaking down in the 3rd & 4th quarters.

Didn't have a program or anything & I haven't had an in depth conversation with any of the Curtis coaches but according to the CST announcers, Curtis lost 29 players to graduation last year, so this Curtis team replaces virtually every single starter on offense, defense AND special teams. This may be a year for another 2A team to be able to pickoff Curtis b/c of the Patriots' youth.

The Mandeville Skippers hung in there until the mid 3rd quarter then a Curtis TD & safety shortly thereafter followed by the final Curtis TD finally broke the Skippers' resolve. They'll be a handful in their district however. The kid that plays QB for them, Plaisance, looked pretty decent for a high school QB. No super duper I-A recruit or anything but he looked pretty decent.

Joe McKnight's younger, Jon who plays for Curtis & is only a sophomore is going to be pretty darn good too. Obviously, only being a high school sophomore, it's still too early to see if he'll match his brother's talent at that level but he'll no doubt be heavily recruited.

The Mets face Los Bravos tonight, in about 20 minutes, in fact. John Maine takes the mound for the Mets.

I'll probably be flipping back & forth between the Washington-Syracuse matchup on ESPN & the John Curtis-Mandeville LHSAA matchup on CST tonight. Go Patriots!

Mets win against the Los Angeles Dodgers née Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers & Super Duper Brad Penny tonight. David Wirght homered & was 2-for-3 & has been as hot as honeymoon pussy the last few weeks. Save somne of those hits for the post-season, David, me bruh!

Although I tihnk the key for this team (the Mets) is Moises Alou. He's also batting at a post .300 clip & akong with new acquisition Luis Castillo, doesn't strike out very much, which could come in handy come post-season. Logic would say putting the ball in play fromn any sort of contact more often, good things can happen more often, yes yes?

I don't know. Still waiting for either El Duque or Oliver Perez to have a total meltdown though.

Kaka-pooh-pooh! Mets lose again to the Merlins! David Wright homered twice... no details since I played Guitar Hero II ALL DAY yesterday. I'm already addicted!

Mets Lose Series Opener With Marlins, 4-3

Billy Wagner blew his 1st save opportunity of the year as the Marlins scored 2 in the top of the 9th to beat the mets, 4-3. Not bad considering it's August for Wagner to only have 1 blown save for the season as of now.

Bright spots were Brian Lawrence making his 2nd decent outing in as many appearances & Carlos Beltran played & homered after being out of the lineup with a knock for about 2 weeks.

Mets hope to bounce back tomorrow with Tom Glavine making his 1st start since winning his 300th career game last sunday.

Alou's 8th Inning HR Allows Mets To Beat Braves, 4-3

Hooray! I saw new acquisition Luis Castillo tie the game in the 7th with a 2-out 2-run single but Missed the the rest of the game. Moises Alou hit a homer in the bottom of the 8th & The Mets won, 4-3. Many children rejoiced & puppies wagged their tails.
